- On Thursday, 16. November 2017, the fifth “World Ocean Review” (WOR 5) was presented to the public with the motto “Coasts – A Vital Habitat Under Pressure”.
In Schleswig-Holstein representation facilities in Berlin, Ingbert Liebing, Nikolaus Gelpke (project initiator and mareverlag publisher), Prof. Ulrich Bathmann (Director of the IOW and Chairman of the German Marine Research Consortium) and Prof. Martin Visbeck (spokesperson of the Kiel Cluster of Excellence „The Future Ocean" and oceanographer at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel) welcomed the numerous guests. Afterwards several Interviewees answered questions on the subject:
- Prof. Dr. Silja Klepp, Professor at the Institute of Geography at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel
- Dr. Tim Jennerjahn, Biogeochemist at the Leibniz Center for Marine Tropical Research (ZMT) and lecturer at the University of Bremen
- Monika Breuch-Moritz, Meteorologist and President of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency
- Prof. em. Dr. Karsten Reise, former director of the Wadden Sea Station Sylt of the Alfred Wegener Institute
- Dr. Robert Habeck, Minister of Energy, Agriculture, the Environment, Nature and Digitalization
