World Ocean Review 9: Marine Biodiversity – The Vital Foundation of Our Oceans will be published on 29 January 2026

On 29 January 2026, two weeks after the UN High Seas Protection Agreement officially came into force, the ninth edition of the »World Ocean Review (WOR) will be published in English. It is entitled »"Marine Biodiversity – The Vital Foundation of Our Oceans" and provides key facts, stories and background information on marine biodiversity in eight chapters – ranging from the genetic differences between individual species to questions about how life is distributed in the ocean and how it serves us humans, to the effectiveness of marine conservation policy and the different values that people associate with the ocean and its communities. The ninth edition of the World Ocean Review provides comprehensive information on all relevant topics and can be ordered and downloaded free of charge from 29 January 2026.
